What to Expect from Your Coaching Session
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS COACHING?
Coaching is about moving forward in any area of your life where you feel stuck - from making a decision to shifting your perspective on an issue. Coaching is client-centered, meaning you, the client, do the work.
Statistics show that 80% of the time people will successfully accomplish ideas they come up with on their own compared to a much lower rate of success that accompanies the suggestions of others.
I believe you know what will work best for you and have the answers to live your own life successfully.
WHO IS COACHING FOR?
Everyone if you are hungry for change in any area of your life, you are a good candidate for coaching. Here are some of the topics people receive coaching around:
Life transitions
Getting βunstuckβ
Career shifts
Personal goals you want to accomplish (e.g. writing a book, cleaning out your closet, health-related issues, etc.)
Facing fears that you need to conquer, such as writing and giving a speech
Basically any desire
WHAT DOES A COACH DO?
I ask open-ended questions to help you clarify your thoughts and goals. I listen without judgment, creating a safe space for you to work through your thoughts and dreams. I also help you narrow down your Action Steps and create accountability to keep you moving forward in your progress.
WHAT DOES THE CLIENT DO?
You set the agenda! You choose the coaching topic and what you would like to accomplish. Also, you will work with me to design a plan of action. You can get coaching for as long as you like or just one session - we can discuss what would be the best fit for you.
WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF COACHING?
You will get out as much as you put into it. Like many other forms of growth in life, when you show up fully, the outcome is much greater. In coaching, I have seen clients produce: greater self-awareness and appreciation of who they were created to be, the ability to create and take advantage of opportunity and begin to create the type of future they most desire.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A CLIENT?
As a person striving to be your best, you are expected to:
Come to each session ready to focus and move forward
Follow through and complete actions that you set for yourself
Honor time commitments (keep session appointments, call on time, and end calls on time)
Bring a 100% commitment to the coaching relationship and process
Be honest, authentic, and open
Be coachable in that you are willing to take action and experience transition
Give feedback on the coaching process
Honor the coaching relationships, the coach, and yourself
HOW IS COACHING DIFFERENT FROM COUNSELING?
Coaching is about working in the new to create the type of future you are looking for. Past experiences may come up in coaching, as it can be necessary to launch the client into the future, but healing past wounds is not the main focus. Coaching is about building and strengthening what you already possess. It gives you vision for the future. As a coach, I do not diagnose, nor am I trained to treat people who are struggling with mental illness.
HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?
Sessions are usually 50 minutes every week or bi-weekly.
HOW MANY SESSIONS SHOULD I SCHEDULE?
A commitment to 6 sessions is preferred. This will allow enough time for the coach and client to get to know each other, get used to the coaching process, and see forward movement.
